About the Opportunity

The NCI has a wide variety of committee and projects that seek patient research advocates. However, you can't apply directly for any particular position. To be considered for an NCI advocacy position, you must first apply to the Office of Advocacy Relations (OAR). The OAR will ask you to provide a Curriculum Vitae (find example at top of the iaslc-stars.org "Resources" page). Once you're in the system, you will be considered for a variety of positions based on your background. When an advocate position becomes open, the committee reviews available CVs and votes to select an advocate to fill the position. It helps to become known by clinicians and researchers that sit on NCI Committees.
